Tim Hartshorne

Tim is the Chief Clinical Vascular Scientist for the Leicester Vascular Institute based at the Glenfield Hospital, which lies in the East Midlands region of the UK. Tim has 34 years’ experience working as a Vascular Scientist and has maintained a significant clinical commitment throughout this period. He has been involved in a number of service developments and initiatives including one-stop clinics, vascular limb salvage service, rapid access transient ischaemic attack clinics and ultrasound based endovascular aneurysm repair surveillance. Tim has had significant involvement with the National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme and he acts as ultrasound quality assurance lead for the local Leicestershire Programme. He has been involved in a number of studies including the accuracy of aortic diameter measurement using ultrasound. He has also co-authored a book on vascular ultrasound. Tim will soon be stepping down from his current position to focus on work for the Aneurysm Screening Programme. He will be sharing his experience of vascular scanning from hands on perspective and will discuss the current and future role of ultrasound in the management of vascular disorders including advantages, limitations and pitfalls.
