Jayne-Maree Sedgman worked as a radio and television journalist for 16 years before starting her own media training and consultancy business, Media Savvy.
Her career took her from Geraldton to Perth then Brisbane where she began what was to be a long association with the ABC.
In the mid-nineties, she moved to London spending four years freelancing for the BBC and Reuters before returning to Australia and joining the ABC’s Sydney newsroom, sharing her time between Radio and TV News and Radio Current Affairs.
As the ABC’s court reporter she covered many major stories, among them the Police Integrity Commission’s corruption hearings, the HIH Royal Commission and businessman Rene Rivkin’s insider trading trial.
As Principal of Media Savvy, Jayne-Maree now uses her experience to help corporate, government and not-for-profit organisations around the country understand what to expect from journalists and put their best foot forward in media interviews.Back to speakers
