James studied a B. Sci at the Australian National University graduating in 2000, and then worked as a biochemist in a pathology lab until 2004 in Brisbane. In 2004, James applied for a trainee Vascular Sonographer position, with no prior experience at the Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane where he completed the DMU (Vasc) under the excellent tutelage of sonographer Rebecca Hetherington and Dr Harry Gibbs. The training involved direct feedback from the Vascular Surgeons, and exposure to a wide range of inpatient and outpatients in a public setting.
James moved to Perth in 2008 to work in a private veins clinic, that specialised in Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy. In 2010, he became the Senior Vascular Sonographer now working with Dr Peter Bray at Vascular Solutions in Perth WA, and currently runs the Vascular Lab in Subiaco, where we continue to perform duplex and Doppler ultrasounds, and procedural work with Dr Bray. Over the past 2 years, James has had a special interest in venous compression as a mechanical cause for developing venous disease, and venous stenting.Back to speakers
