Dr Ligita Jokubkiene

Dr Jokubkiene currently works as a consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Skane University Hospital in Malmö, Sweden.

She did her training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kaunas University of Medicine in Kaunas, Lithuania from 2002-2006. After finalising her specialisation in 2006 she moved to Malmö, Sweden to work at Skane University Hospital. During her last years of residency, she developed an interest in gynaecological ultrasound and started doing research on ultrasound diagnosis in ovarian and endometrial pathology at Lund University, Sweden. Ligita moved to Sweden from 2007-2012 where she continued doing research and was a PhD student at Lund University. In 2012 she defended her thesis titled” Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries”.

She has been working as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Skane University Hospital, Malmö, Sweden since 2006, joining the ultrasound unit in 2008. During this time, she further developed her interest and skills in ultrasound diagnosis of endometriosis, ovarian and endometrial pathology and pelvic floor injuries as well as performing ultrasound examinations for Fetal malformations.

In addition to working within the Ultrasound unit, Ligita also works with the Obstetrical unit within the delivery ward and outpatient clinic.

From 2011-2014 she was an Editor for the Journal of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is now the Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology course in Malmö.

Ligita participates in multicentre IOTA, IETA and IDEA studies and runs several research projects within her department. She has also taken on the role of research supervisor for PhD and medical students as well as clinical supervisor for residents.

Dr Jokubkiene is an author of book chapters and published research papers in international journals. She also organises and teaches advanced courses in Gynaecological Ultrasound and is an experienced conference and World Congress speaker.
